My PR Card will be Expired Soon. What do I need to do?

Your PR card is not only an important identification document, it is also needed on entry to Canada when you return from another country. If you are a permanent resident, it is crucial you ensure your card is valid, and apply for a renewal when the card is reaching its expiry date.

You can apply for the renewal within 9 months (270 days) from the expiry date.

To be eligible for renewing a PR card, the applicant:

1. Must be a permanent resident of Canada

2. Must be physically present in Canada

3. Must meet the residency obligations

4. Should not be under an effective removal order

5. Should not be convicted of an offense related to the misuse of a PR card

1. Fill out and submit the following application forms:

- Application for a Permanent Resident Card

- Document Checklist

2. In addition, you need:

- 2 photos that meet the photo specifications

- Include all supporting documents

- Pay a $50 fee
